MT62xx: MT6205, MT6208, MT6217, MT6218, MT6219, MT6223, MT6225, MT6226, MT6227, MT6228, MT6229, MT6230

Very popular and very cheap chipset, probably about 90-95% of currently produced so called "Chinese" models based on this CPU type.

Well known names

Well known names for phones that was produced by unknown (or almost known) Chinese manufacturers:

  • "Cloned models" name widely used due to rough copies of famous brands was released
  • "Chinese Miracle" name released several years ago by Infinity-Box
  • "Fake Nokia" f.e. Nckia, Nokla, Nokier, Nokig etc.
  • "Fake Sony-Ericsson" f.e. Somy-Ericsson, Son-Ersson, Soy-Ericssom, Sany-Ericson etc.
  • "Fake Samsung" f.e. Somsung, Samsking, Samsong etc.

Dual-sim models (dual CPU, old design)

Based on two CPU at one PCB: has two CPU and two flash chip.

  • MT6226 CPU (in most cases) for first (master) SIM-card, ordinary flash chip size is 16Mb
  • MT6205 CPU (in most cases) for second (slave) SIM-card, ordinary flash chip size is 4Mb

Dual-sim models (mono CPU, new design)

Based on one CPU at PCB: has one flash chip with software that can serve both sim cards at a time.

  • MT6225 CPU (in most cases) for first (master) and second (slave) sim cards.

Triple-sim models

Models with 3 (three) active sim cards available at market.

  • one MT6225 CPU (in most cases) for all three sim cards.

NOR and NAND flash types

Well known hardware/software problems and solutions

  • Phone can not power-on: in many cases it's a result of bad soldering quality, it is need to rehot or reabll CPU chip and flash chip

Cables/Pinouts (Rx/Tx/Gnd)

Many models (especially models with 5-pin system connector) do not have Rx/Tx contacts at phone system connector but Rx/Rx points marked at phone PCB, it is possible to solder Rx/Tx wires from cable directly to phone.
